Mandate first
Legal work starts only after conflict checks, onboarding, FICA where required, clear scope, and written mandate acceptance. A booking, enquiry, store purchase, or portal request is not a mandate.
Fees and mandate terms
This page gives public cost guidance, mandate principles, and the link between legal-service fees and store products. The signed mandate and written fee confirmation still control the actual rate, deposit, scope, and billing terms for a matter.
Legal work starts only after conflict checks, onboarding, FICA where required, clear scope, and written mandate acceptance. A booking, enquiry, store purchase, or portal request is not a mandate.
Deposits may be required before work starts or before an external step is taken. Disbursements such as advocate, sheriff, filing, courier, tracing, correspondent, and platform charges are charged separately unless the mandate states otherwise.
Invoices are payable under the mandate terms. Portal access, document downloads, drafts, signed versions, and statements may be restricted while onboarding, mandate, FICA, payment, or attorney-release steps remain outstanding.
Product pages and fee confirmations state the VAT treatment applicable to the relevant route. Tax invoices or invoice records are issued through the billing workflow where required.
Indicative fees
The ranges below are public guidance only. They help you understand likely cost categories before submitting documents. A final quote may be lower or higher depending on urgency, document volume, risk, seniority required, and whether litigation or third-party costs are involved.
| Route | Public range | Basis | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Initial consultation | Usually R950 to R2,500 plus VAT where applicable | Fixed consultation fee unless expressly confirmed as complimentary | Used for initial review, issue identification, document request, and route recommendation. It is not a full written opinion unless scoped as such. |
| Litigation and dispute resolution | Demand work from about R1,500. Strategy notes, pleadings, applications, and opposed work quoted after review. | Fixed phase, capped phase, or hourly by scope | Counsel, sheriff, correspondent, filing, tracing, and court-related disbursements are separate unless expressly included. |
| Commercial and corporate | Focused reviews from about R2,500. Drafting and negotiation quoted by document set and complexity. | Fixed fee for defined deliverables, hourly for negotiation or open-ended work | Tax, audit, valuation, exchange-control, B-BBEE, and specialist regulatory work require separate scoping. |
| Contracts and document drafting | Single-document review from about R1,800. New drafting and redline rounds quoted by length, risk, and turnaround. | Fixed fee where document count and revision rounds are clear | Urgent turnarounds, multiple versions, negotiation rounds, and missing commercial terms increase scope. |
| Debt collection | Demand and evidence audit from about R950. Litigation escalation quoted after debtor, evidence, and recovery economics are assessed. | Fixed phase, hourly, or recovery-linked structure where lawful and agreed | Escalation depends on proof, debtor solvency, enforceability, and whether expected recovery justifies legal spend. |
| Property and conveyancing support | Document or mandate review from about R1,500. Transaction support quoted by stage and risk. | Fixed fee by transaction stage or hourly for disputes | The firm does not imply that browsing this page appoints it as conveyancer, transferring attorney, or bond attorney. |
| Employment and labour support | Contract or notice review from about R1,500. CCMA, disciplinary, and termination work quoted after facts and deadlines are known. | Fixed phase or hourly depending on urgency and forum | Employment time limits can be short. Include dismissal, warning, referral, and hearing dates in the enquiry. |
| Store products | Shown on each product page before checkout or request | Per-item price, free request, or attorney-assisted product enquiry | Store purchases are general resources unless PGH Attorneys separately accepts a legal mandate for tailored advice. |
A paid or free product gives access only to the described resource. If you want attorney review, adaptation, negotiation, or advice, submit a product-specific enquiry so the product can be linked to a new mandate.
Digital products and attorney-assisted routes are subject to the website terms and written engagement terms. Refunds are not automatic once digital access, review work, or attorney time has been released.
Urgency may change the fee basis. Court deadlines, notices, suspensive conditions, CCMA periods, and prescription risks must be disclosed immediately.
