Calls for comment

The Minister of Basic Education has called for public and stakeholder comments on proposed amendments under the South African Schools Act, 1996. The notice concerns the repeal of the proviso on the Practical Music Programme offered by external music examination bodies, and says the comment period opens for 30 days from publication.

The notice says Mr JS Malema, MP, intends to introduce the Electoral Matters Amendment Bill, 2026, and invites comment on a draft bill. The summary describes proposed amendments relating to automated voter registration, reporting, electronic publication of the voters’ roll, and related matters.

The notice says the Executive Officer for Agricultural Product Standards intends to register listed methods of production as a management control system under the Regulations Relating to the Management Control System in Respect of the Sale of Certain Agricultural Products. It invites objections in writing within 30 days from publication, and notes that information is available on the Department of Agriculture website.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has received an application from You FM (Pty) Ltd t/a You FM to amend its Individual Commercial Sound Broadcasting Service licence. The notice sets out proposed changes to broadcast language, programming format, news and current affairs output, and staff composition, and invites written representations within 14 working days of publication.

A general notice from the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform is titled “Notice of application for conversion of land tenure rights: Comments invited”. It was published in the Government Gazette on 5 June 2026.

A government notice was published on 5 June 2026 under the Labour Relations Act. It refers to a notice of intention to cancel the registration of the Union for Social Workers (USW) and says representations are invited.

The International Trade Administration Commission says it has initiated an investigation for remedial action in the form of a safeguard measure against increased imports of A3 and A4 office paper. The notice says the reports are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness, responsiveness and integrity of the NQF, and to enhance the role of professional bodies within the NQF system.

This notice says the Gauteng MEC responsible for local government intends to appoint members and alternate members to the Valuation Appeal Board for the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. It also invites written comments within 21 days of publication and lists the proposed names in a schedule.

The notice invites interested parties to comment on draft amended APDP2 Regulations. It says the draft would expand standard materials for electric vehicle battery manufacturing, including critical minerals and materials from the SADC region, and would add measures to support a regional electric vehicle battery manufacturing industry.

The notice invites public comments on the Policy on Research Protocols and Processes in the Department of Higher Education and Training and public colleges. It says the policy would replace the Policy Standard on Approval to Conduct Research in Public Colleges and sets out research application, review, reporting and ethics processes.

Stanford Wines (Pty) Ltd has submitted an application to the Wine Certification Authority to define Stanford Valley as a production area, or ward, for the purpose of producing a Wine of Origin. The notice says the area is within the Walker Bay district and gives the proposed location and name of the ward. The notice invites objections, with motivations, to be lodged in writing within 30 days of publication.

The Engineering Council of South Africa has published draft rules for comment. The draft rules cover the management of appeal matters, enforcement matters and improper conduct matters. The notice says the comment deadline is 30 May 2026.

The Accounting Standards Board invites comment on four IPSASB exposure drafts and a consultation paper. The notice says the Board will use comments received in formulating its response to the IPSASB. The listed documents include ED 218, ED 219, ED 220 and ED 221, with the stated comment deadlines shown in the notice.
