The High Court in Pretoria heard an urgent application by Appcentrix (Pty) Ltd against the Minister of Police. The judgment records that the applicant sought an order that the respondent assign a purchase order for services to be rendered from 1 March 2026 to 28 February 2027, and the court granted that relief.

The judgment concerns an application by Jerry Tshabalala for the eviction of various occupiers of a property in Thembisa, Extension 11. The court said it was not satisfied that a case had been made out that the eviction would be just and equitable, and noted that neither the applicant nor his legal representative attended court. The court said it would make an order dismissing the application with costs.

The appeal concerns whether a claim under the Prescription Act 68 of 1969 had prescribed. The Labour Appeal Court heard an appeal about the non-renewal of Dr Naidoo’s fixed-term contract at Tshwane University of Technology. The court considered whether the contract terms and surrounding facts supported a reasonable expectation of renewal, and upheld the appeal. The Labour Court’s order was set aside and replaced with dismissal of the application.

The judgment deals with an exception to amended particulars of claim in a contract dispute. The court upheld the exception on the first ground relating to replacement and installation heads of damages under clause 7.1, and dismissed the second ground concerning the notice provision in clause 9.2.
