The High Court dismissed an application by the South African Police Service Medical Scheme to review AFSA's refusal to accept a notice of appeal against an arbitration award. The court found that the documents did not record a written agreement that the award would be subject to an appeal. The first respondent's counter application to make the arbitration award an order of court was granted.

The High Court in Pretoria heard an appeal by Siyabonga Weni against his conviction for robbery with aggravated circumstances and the 15 year sentence imposed in the Regional Court. The judgment records the evidence of the complainant and a witness, the appellant's alibi defence, and the court's conclusion that the conviction was correctly based on the state witnesses' evidence. The appeal against conviction and sentence was dismissed.

The High Court dealt with an application by a body corporate for revival of a lapsed rule nisi in sequestration proceedings against a sectional title owner. The court declared that the rule nisi had been discharged in error, but dismissed the revival application and directed that the sequestration application be postponed to the opposed roll on 11 August 2026.

The High Court considered an urgent application by six police service members after a prior order set aside their bail and directed them to surrender to police. It held that the noting of an application for leave to appeal did not automatically suspend that order, and it dismissed the application and the constitutional relief sought.

The court gave reasons for an order granted on 4 May 2026 in favour of FNB Mortgage Loans (RF) Limited against Mr Kamohelo Mokotjo. The reasons deal with summary judgment and Rule 46A relief, including a reserve price of R3 300 000.00 and the court's treatment of issues such as locus standi, cession, section 129 notice, and reckless credit.

The High Court considered an application about a child’s primary residence and whether it should change from the mother in the Eastern Cape to the father in Johannesburg. The judgment says section 29 of the Children’s Act creates a jurisdiction of convenience, and it dismissed the application to make the Family Advocate’s recommendation an order of court. The court directed that the child’s primary residence will remain with the respondent in the Eastern Cape and invited the parties to agree a contact regime.

The High Court considered an application under Rule 42(1)(a) to set aside only the winding-up part of an earlier order against SID (Pty) Ltd. It held that the winding-up order had been granted in SID’s absence on materially unreliable proof of service and rescinded paragraphs 4 and 5 of the earlier order. The judgment says it does not determine whether SID is factually or commercially solvent.
